Vivek Oberoi takes a dig at Salman Khan

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:36 AM PDT

Having paid the price for being too outspoken, Vivek Oberoi had been keeping a low profile of late. In fact, the actor, in this self-ablution phase had also apologised for his decade-old verbal attack on Salman Khan.

Needless to say, Salman hadn't been too receptive. But, Vivek too seems to be going back to his bratty ways. While visiting a radio station on World No Tobacco Day, the actor who has recently signed a film titled Sher took a dig at Salman Khan's YRF project Ek Tha Tiger.
A source present at the media interaction told, "A journalist asked Vivek which film he thought was bigger - Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger or his Sher. At first Vivek smiled and then said, "Sher tiger se bada hota hai. And then he winked."

The actor however, followed it up by talking about his bond with Salman's good friend Sanjay Dutt. "He's like an elder brother to me," said Vivek. Having shot one film, Zilla Ghaziabad together, Vivek said how he was now looking forward to working in Sher with the actor.
But Vivek, who by then had perhaps regressed to his old outspoken self, did not stop at that. At the event organised on World No Tobacco Day, when he was asked about Shah Rukh Khan's smoking habits, he promptly answered, "Whenever Shah Rukh bhai meets me, he says that he wants to quit smoking. For him, I want to request his fans to pray that he eventually gets rid of this habit."
"Main personally kisiko nahi bolta to not smoke," continued the actor and added, "I simply tell them the pros and cons. After visiting the Tata Memorial hospital and seeing cancer patients, anybody would give up smoking."

Here's hoping that his good intentions outshine his outspoken ways this time around.

Doctors want Aamir to apologize for accusing them

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:21 AM PDT

An umbrella body of 21 medical institutions Wednesday asked Bollywood star Aamir Khan to apologize for accusing doctors of malpractices in his TV talk show Satyamev Jayate.

Medscape India said the representation of malpractices supposedly perpetrated by doctors was "rather sad" and Aamir Khan should offer his apologies.

"It is rather sad that doctors should be made the object of such shameless, unilateral scrutiny," Himanshu Mehta, co-founder and advisor to Medscape India, said.

After highlighting social issues affecting Indian society, Aamir Khan, in the fourth episode of his show, turned the spotlight on healthcare and malpractices in the medical profession.

He highlighted unethical practices, corruption and scandalous revelations in medical treatment.

"Aamir Khan is my favourite actor and he should stick to making films," said another doctor, Sunita Dube, president of Medscape.

"Surprisingly, no doctors' body has spoken against Aamir yet. We need to stand united against such blatant lies. We are going to write a scathing letter demanding an apology from him," Dube said.

Medscape pointed out that doctors were subjected to assault without any fault and many people didn't understand the pressures of the profession.

"Where is Aamir Khan when doctors are assaulted? Where is he when we give free treatment to the needy?" asked Kishore Taori, president of the Maharashtra Medical Council that is associated with Medscape.

Shahrukh Khan ashamed of Wankhede brawl, says he’s no role model

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:09 AM PDT

Recent failures and scuffles have not only taught Shah Rukh Khan many lessons but the superstar has also apologised for his high-handed attitude. He confesses to have learnt to accept both brickbats and appreciation.
"In the last five years, I have changed and realised I can also fail," Shah Rukh told reporters Wednesday when he was asked what he has learned from failure and controversies.
"I had not faced failure for many years and it (failure) has made me humble… you can't get angry and say the world is wrong and we have to realise failure is part of our life… failure and success are not permanent," he added.
He was addressing a press conference at his Mannat residence here post the Kolkata Knight Riders winning the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Sund. SRK co-owns Knight Riders.
In the recent past, Shah Rukh's image of an affable and disciplined star got a blow due to series of events. First, his home production "RA.One" did not get a positive response at the box office; he got into a brawl with director Shirish Kunder and then was involved in a scuffle with security personnel and Mumbai Cricket Association officials at the Wankhede Stadium that saw him being banned for five years from entering the ground.
But finally he seems to be out of that gloom, thanks to KKR triumphing and winning the IPL title. SRK co-owns the team with actress Juhi Chawla and her businessman husband Jai Mehta.
"I abused but I had a reason for it…how much angry or disturbed you are, you cannot subject it to your audience or children…I don't think I am a role model…," Shah Rukh told reporters Wednesday when he was asked about the run-in at Wankhede with the security staff and MCA officials May 16.
"Saal ke andar ek jhagda aur do films kaafi hai (within a year a brawl and two films is enough)…I was very ashamed when my wife and children explained to me that I shouldn't have behaved in that way…I realised, mere bache itne bade ho gaye hain ki muje samjha rahe hain (my children have grown so much that they are advising me), I was ashamed," he added. – IANS
