Actress Vidya Balan looked ravishing in a red saree as she joined lavani dancers on stage to perform her latest item number Mala Jau De from 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' live for the audience, on May 25. On public demand, she was asked to repeat the performance.
From a simple girl-next-door in 'Parineeta', to the challenging multi-faceted role in 'Ishqiya', from re-living the role of South sex siren Silk Smitha in 'The Dirty Picture', to the die-hard Vidya Bagchi in 'Kahaani', Vidya Balan has done it all.
Next, Vidya tries her hand at shaking it for a lavani item number in forthcoming film 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari', but the actress says the act didn't come easy as she isn't really a dancer.
"I think I enjoyed this dance a lot. I have enjoyed all the roles I have played, but I didn't think I would enjoy dancing so much because I am not really a dancer, I have to put in a lot of effort," said Vidya adding, "But we worked hard, and when I reached the set we went mad dancing."
Vidya undertook three weeks training with a troupe from Kolhapur before giving the final Lavani shot.  When asked who her inspiration was for lavani songs, Vidya said: "Madhuri Dixit of course. I really liked Madhuri's song in 'Sailaab' and 'Sangeet'. I also admire Smita Patil in 'Bhoomika'."

Emraan Hashmi and Neha Dhupia are working together in Percept Pictures' thriller 'Rush'. The two stars were in Goa for the shoot of the same and while shooting a song sequence for the film, they got stuck in the mirror maze for about forty minutes.
The unit had constructed a massive oval mirror maze for the song sequence and initially, shooting for the song was fun. However, things took a confusing turn when after some point the actors couldn't differentiate the real person from his/her reflection and ended up getting lost inside the maze. Neha and Emraan were later seen sharing a laugh after this amusing situation finally came to end.
The film was previously titled RAFTAAR 24*7 and was directed by the late Shamin Desai.  Now, the film is revived by Percept Picture Company and directed by Priyanka Desai. Slated for the release in the second half of 2012, 'Rush' sees Hashmi playing the charismatic and controversial journalist Sam who plunges into a vortex of violence in a deadly engineered game of cat and mouse.

Well! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's wardrobe at Cannes 2012 and her post pregnancy flab had become an issue of national concern and debate for some past few days now. Gossip columns had come out with the news that Aishwarya would go all traditional with saris and anarkali suits at Cannes this year. But the actress came up with a rather pleasant surprise as she made her first appearance at Cannes in an elegant Angelo Katsapis maxidress teamed with a thin black long-sleeved cardigan with her hair left down. Her second appearance at the festival was in the promised Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla sari. She was covered upto every inch as she attended the star-studded amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in a cream chikankari sari and an elaborately embroidered jacket in place of a choli.
No sooner did the photos of Aishwarya at Cannes hit the internet, than praises started pouring in for the stunning lady. Here are some of the posts from her fans:
Danielle wrote, "Without a doubt that is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, at BOTH weights. Twigs like Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham don't hold a candle to her."
For Krutika Desai, size doesn't matter much. She wrote, "Just because she is in the public eye does not mean that she has to be a particular size. It is her life and if she is happy and content then there is no need for the negative comments. I think she still looks as stunning as ever! Post-baby glow still there!"

Want to be a step ahead of Vidya Balan: Veena Malik

Posted: 28 May 2012 10:25 AM PDT

Pakistani actress Veena Malik, set to sizzle in the Kannada version of hit Bollywood film "The Dirty Picture", aims to go a step ahead of Vidya Balan's act in the original. She maintains the two films are different.
"I have not seen the 'The Dirty Picture' in Hindi, though I have heard that Vidya Balan has delivered an awesome performance in the film. But I really want to go one step ahead in my performance in this film," said Veena.
The actress, who rose to fame in India after her stint in controversial reality show "Bigg Boss 4″, says it is unfair to compare the two films.
"Please don't compare the Bollywood film with the Kannada film that I am doing now," said Veena.
This is her first Kannada film, and she is confident it will be appreciated.
"My first Kannada film has a good package of entertainment and sentimental scenes. I'm sure I will entertain the audience with my performance and at the same time they would also feel sorry for the trials that my character undergoes in the film.
"I will win the hearts of Kannadigas through this performance. I like the role," she added.
Veena said she can relate to her role in the film, adding: "This is a different story and it connects well with all the struggling young women who want to make it big in their respective fields.
"I was moved after hearing the story as there were many incidents which remembered incidents that happened in my life albeit in a different fashion."
The actress is even more excited as she has wrapped a "sexy" and "stylish" photo shoot for the film, insisting it will present her in Marilyn Monroe style.
She said the photo shoot, done by photographer Suresh, was sexy, stylish, hot, raunchy, naughty and visually-captivating.
The film's lead actor Akshay had also participated in the photo shoot. The film is produced by Venkateappa, while writer and director Thrishool is wielding the megaphone for it.
Veena hopes she is also offered good roles in other regional film industries down south. – IANS

‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ music offers happy ride (Music Review)

Posted: 28 May 2012 10:17 AM PDT

Film: "Ferrari Ki Sawaari"
Music Director: Pritam
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Guru Thakur, Satyanshu Singh, Devanshu Singh
Singers: Sonu Nigam, Rana Majumdar, Aishwarya Nigam and Ashish, Urmila Dhangar, Shaan, Boman Irani, Aayush Phukan, Priyani Vani Pandit, K Mohan
Rating: ***1/2
The soundtrack of "Ferrari Ki Sawaari" does not take you on a rollercoaster ride, but with five lyricists at his helm, Pritam has managed to dole out a decent album. It has an array of tracks, which can manage to generate a happy and positive response from listeners.
The album starts off with "Maara re", penned by Swanand Kirkire and crooned by Sonu Nigam, Rana Majumdar, Aishwarya Nigam and Ashish. A song dedicated to cricket, it comes at the height of the Indian Premier League (IPL) fever. A fun and frolic anthem, it impresses with its peppy composition and inspiring words. Special credit goes to Sonu Nigam for not dominating the song with his voice and providing ample space to the other singers.
Next up is the beautiful "Rusy's theme", an instrumental track with a Spanish touch. The composition is very soothing to the ears and it can be heard on loop.
The third number is the much-hyped "Mala jau de", which marks the entry of Vidya Balan into the world of item numbers. The song has elements of Lavani with Guru Thakur's lyrics getting an apt treatment by the refreshing voice of Urmila Dhangar. Pritam too has given a good and authentic composition. This one surely deserves kudos.
"Ae mere mann", crooned by Shyamantan Das, is a motivational song. His voice provides the perfect base for this superb track, which talks about a child's struggles in life and how he can overcome them. It also has a beautiful chorus.
It is followed by another peaceful song "Good night", a sweet lullaby sung brilliantly by Priyani Vani Pandit. Its melodious tone slowly takes over your heart and soul, leaving you with a sweet comforting sensation.
Up next is the title track of the film "Chal ghoomne", an upbeat number which instantly makes you jump with joy. Although Shaan is most prominent in the track, Boman Irani and Aayush Phukan's vocal support pack an extra punch in the song. It plays on perfectly with the theme of the film.
The last song in the album is "Yeh mausambi si", a foxtrot kind of track sung by K. Mohan, with lyrics by Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh. The most appealing part of it is the whistling motif in the background.
Overall, the "Ferrari Ki Sawaari" music album impresses with its positive energy and happy-go-lucky feel. The compositions are good and offer variety. There's something for everyone here. – IANS
