Vidya Balan meets top 10 Junior Idols

Posted: 28 Jun 2013 12:17 PM PDT

A lot of 'little surprises' were in store for Vidya Balan, when she visited the set of music reality show Indian Idol Junior, to promote her latest release, 'Ghanchakkar'.

The top 10 finalists —Sonakshi Kar, Priyam Borpatra Gohain, Anmol Jaswal, Akash Sharma, Nirvesh Dave, Aryan Das, Sankalp Yaduwanshi, Anjana Padmanabhan, Debanjana Karmakar and Eman Choudhury — left the actress spellbound.

But it's not only the contestants who tried to impress her. Host Karan Wahi was so besotted, he couldn't stop flirting with Vidya. She also sizzled on the stage by grooving to Ooh la la with judge Shekhar Ravijiani. Fellow judges Vishal Dadlani and Shreya Ghoshal did their bit by singing the song.

Vidya also showcased her linguistic skills by speaking words of encouragement to each contender in their mother tongue. Two ex-Indian Idol contestants, Rahul Vaidya and Bhavya Pandit, were also present on the set.

Indian Idol Junior airs tonight at 8.30 on Sony Entertainment Television.

If the grapevine is to be believed, Lulia is staying with Salman's parents. No, don't jump to any conclusion yet. Here's the explanation - Lulia is based out of US and she is new in this country. She doesn't know the language nor is she familiar with the place.

So, Salman, who is known to go out of his way to help people and his loved ones, offered to accommodate her. That's how Lulia started staying with the Khans.

Moving to India has been easiest move: Sunny Leone

Posted: 27 Jun 2013 12:09 PM PDT

Mumbai, June 27 (IANS) As a top-rated porn star in the US, Sunny Leone had perhaps never imagined she could have "moved" to Bollywood as "easily" as she did. But she is glad that the industry is "accepting" her while she tries to "fully crack the code".

Excerpts from the interview:

Q. A lot has happened to your career in Bollywood since we last spoke. How do you feel about the changes in your life and career?

A. This has been the most amazing transition that I could hope for. Being accepted and liked in another country is not something that happens all the time.

Q. How accepting has Bollywood been of you? Do you feel completely at home here?

A. Bollywood has been very accepting. I know there are people out there that don't like me but there are more people liking me so it doesn't bother me. I am very lucky that when I entered Bollywood, I was coming with a fan-following already. And the 'Bigg Boss 5' show helped everyone else get to know me as a person. Moving to India from Hollywood was one of the easiest moves I have ever made. Effortless really.

Q. How much of the Indian film industry have you so far come to terms with?

A. I'm not sure I fully understand this question. But I grew up in a typical Punjabi home and watched Hindi movies during my childhood. I understand Hindi and Punjabi and the Indian film industry is like every entertainment industry across the world. It all functions the same just in a different language. I have moved my whole world here and love this industry of Bollywood.

Q. Do you feel it's hard for an outsider like you to crack the Bollywood code?

A. I work very hard and around the clock trying my hardest to learn everything that Bollywood is. I'm not even sure if I have fully cracked the 'code', but I've begun the process hopefully. It all depends on how my second, third and fourth movie do. In all reality, I have only made one movie that has been released to the world. It all depends on how the world accepts me in those movies to come.

Q. Your next project is Ekta Kapoor's "Ragini MMS 2"? How comfortable are you in the horror genre?

A. Honestly, I loved working on this film. There is a lot of performance in this movie and a huge range of emotions and, of course, horror. I don't mind the idea of not looking pretty in every shot. To me, this is my way of getting out of who I am and becoming someone completely different for the day.

Q. Are you now a full-on Mumbai girl? Have you and your husband settled down in Mumbai?

A. I feel very comfortable living here and it's been the easiest move for he and I. We're very much settled and know the ins and out of Mumbai. I think the day I felt totally comfortable was when I started giving my driver directions.

Q. Have you left your days as an adult star behind? How do you look back on that experience?

A. If it wasn't for my past, I would not be who I am. I am not ashamed of it because it has brought me here to India. If I came here as regular me with no entertainment experience then I would not be as popular as I am today with the public.

Q. How do you react to a director like Anees Bazmi saying he wouldn't want to work with you as he has a family audience to consider?

A. I have no idea what this is all about. But I am very lucky that there are plenty of people that want to work with me.

Q. Is it true your husband Daniel is also seeking a career in Bollywood?

A. My husband is entertaining several opportunities and for information you'll have to ask him.

Sunny Leone: I don't mind the idea of not looking pretty

Posted: 27 Jun 2013 12:09 PM PDT

After the success of her first Hindi film Jism 2, Sunny Leone is looking at a full-blown Bollywood career, and has already moved on to her next project. The actress also plans to buy a home in Mumbai so that she can settle down.

She talks to Subhash K Jha about her movies, and the welcome Bollywood has given her.

Your next project is Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS 2. How comfortable are you in the horror genre?

I loved working on this film. The film requires a lot of performance, a whole range of emotions and of course, horror.

I don't mind the idea of not looking pretty in every shot. To me, this is my way of getting out of who I am and becoming someone completely different for the day.

Right now my whole focus is on Bollywood and nothing else: Sunny Leone

Sunny Leone talks about her film career in Bollywood.

Moving to India from Hollywood was one of the easiest moves I have ever made. Effortless really.

You performed an item song in Shootout At Wadala. How difficult was it for you to master all those filmy manoeuvres?

It was a challenge but I fortunately was working with one of the easiest choreographer Ahmed Khan and his team Karishma, Khalid and Bob. They made me feel so comfortable that is was able to relax and just dance. I was the child growing up that wanted to play football, hockey, basketball and so on, so this is a challenge for me to learn a whole new art. But something that I can promise anyone one I work with is that I am a fast learner and I work very very hard to get it right within the scope of my ability.

Your next project is Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS 2? How comfortable are you in the horror genre?

Vidya Balan thrives on being unconventional

Posted: 27 Jun 2013 12:08 PM PDT

If there is one actress in the recent times who is not at all bothered about appearing in a glamorous way in a film, with designer couture, without oodles of makeup, it is Vidya Balan, who has really redefined the notions of beauty as they conventionally are associated for a Hindi film heroine, and she affirms it again with her latest film GHANCHAKKAR. She has again been portrayed in a wacky sense as far as her attire is concerned, and one could argue that it is in sync with the character that she is portraying, but has this been a factor in the way Hindi film actors appear on silver screen. It rarely has been, even if an actor is playing the role of a pauper, he would be attired in such immaculate dresses that even poverty would be ashamed to include him or her under that category.
In her own imitable manner, more so with the roles that Vidya Balan has been doing, including that in GHANCHAKKAR, she is setting the agenda, the agenda of forcing the men of the species to look at women not through her body or through her clothes but through the warmth that is expressed through the eyes of the woman, and Vidya Balan has underlined it with rare panache from ISHQIYA to THE DIRTY PICTURE to KAHAANI and now in GHANCHAKKAR.

By redefining the contours of the way in which a woman ought to be seen, i.e. she ought to be seen in the way she is and not through some reference points of being an hour glass figure. This is precisely the reason perhaps that Vidya Balan has emerged as the force to be reckoned with at the box office, and she perhaps gets oodles of support from the female of the species who believe in the idea and the notions that Vidya Balan is trying to propagate through various characters, including GHANCHAKKAR, and has become a force to be reckoned with in the initial three days at the box office.

CHECK OUT: Fearing heist, 'treasure hunt' worth millions dropped for GHANCHAKKAR

It is also in sync with the power that she draws at the box office now a days that she has been shown promoting GHANCHAKKAR rather than Emraan Hashmi, the hero of the film. The reconstruction of Vidya Balan happened in a really big way through NO ONE KILLED JESSICA directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who again is the director of GHANCHAKKAR.

If GHANCHAKKAR hits bulls eye at the box office, Rajkumar Gupta would have to thank Vidya Balan for it, as it is her presence in the film and the way she has presented herself which would be instrumental in bringing the footfalls for the film at the box office.

Vidya Balan Compares Emraan Hashmi To Amitabh Bachchan!

Posted: 26 Jun 2013 11:19 AM PDT

Actress Vidya Balan, who had shared screen space with Emraan Hashmi in The Dirty Picture and will be seen paired opposite him once more in Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar, seems to be quite impressed with the actor's dry sense of humour.

In an interview, the 'Dirty' actress said that though she could not interact much with Hashmi during The Dirty Picture, they had a great time while working on Ghanchakkar. Vidya added that though Emraan is a private person, he has a great sense of humour and compared him to Amitabh Bachchan's character Jai in Sholay for his dry sense of humour and his ability to say funny things with a straight face.

A heist comedy, Ghanchakkar revolves around a thief, who loses his memory after a robbery and forgets the place where he has stashed his loot, much to the frustration of his two accomplices. The film will have Emraan playing the role of the thief whereas Vidya will essay the role of his loud, Punjabi wife.

Actress Helen Flanagan may not be worried much over the gems worth thousands and other valuable things that she lost at the masked men's gang robbery at her Cheshire. But one thing that bothers and scares the ex-Corrie beauty the most is her iPhone. Yes! She had saved some of her raunchy photos and intimate text between her and ex-beau Scott Sinclair in the stolen iPhone. Now, she reportedly fears that they would get leaked online thereby landing her career in trouble. Talking to The Sun, a close pal of Helen Flanagan, "Helen's mortified at the thought of the photos and texts going on the web. She doesn't want her solo amateur stuff bouncing around the net for ever. It's all very well doing sexy poses for mags in a studio. But daring shots taken in the privacy of her home are very different and were never taken to be made public." Helen Flanagan, who is not shy about stripping off for the camera, thinks that her career will be affected if her personal content gets leaked on the net. Despite having lot of tension, the actress took to her Twitter to thank fans for their support. She tweeted, "Thank you for your kind messages of support about the burglary x got a phone last night." She added, "Soo much to do! Trying to get back to everyone also I've lost all my numbers xxx. (sic)"

Sonakshi Sinha's mom supervises her sex scene in Lootera

Posted: 26 Jun 2013 11:17 AM PDT

Sonakshi Sinha's rule of thumb: mummy knows best. The 26-year-old actress made sure she was chaperoned by her mother Poonam during her first-ever lovemaking scene in the film Lootera, reports Mid-Day. In what must have been a horribly embarrassing encounter between Sonakshi, her mom and
Ranveer Singh, the co-stars filmed their sex scene while mommy dearest just hung around.

"Sonakshi, who has a strict no-kissing policy in her films, is known to be accompanied by her mom to almost all her sets," the tabloid reported.
Mid-Day's source also stated "Sona has been very clear about her dos and don'ts when she signs a film. She is strict when it comes to lovemaking scenes but director Vikramaditya Motwane was very keen to have one. The scene leads to a major twist in the storyline."

The source further added that Poonam was present at Sonakshi's shoot to ensure that "the sequence was not raunchy."

Poonam Pandey's debut film's song Tera Nasha is all about sex!

Posted: 26 Jun 2013 11:17 AM PDT

Twitter's poisonous princess Poonam Pandey who is all geared up for the release of her debut film Nasha is seen seducing co-actor Shivam in the Tera Nasha song.

A song teaser of the film Nasha has been released, featuring Poonam Pandey and actor Shivam. The film has been in talks since its conception, recently a poster of the film created controversy in which Poonam, dared to bare it all clad in nothing except two placards hiding her assets. The placards read: "Nasha...Get addicted this monsoon".

The trailer of the movie is also doing the rounds where Poonam is seen walking around nude and getting intimate with her co-actor. The trailer emphasises that in a world of temptation, romance is temporary, love is lonely, but addiction is forever.

Director Amit Saxena is aware of Poonam's image as a sex bomb and has been insisting that the film is bold and not porn. Nasha is set for July 26 release.

Poonam Pandey's Nasha is all about sex, says new poster

Posted: 25 Jun 2013 10:37 AM PDT

From the promos and poster releases of Amit Saxena's Nasha that stars sultry Twitter queen Poonam Pandey, it appears the film has hardly anything apart from sex and skin show by Poonam.

The storyline that traces a fiery romance between a teenager and an older woman, seems to lack direction and revolves more around the boy's sexual fantasy than anything else.

Amit Saxena who has the reputation of directing  Bipasha and John Abraham in Jism has made Poonam do much more than what Bipasha did.

Did you know these Bollywood stars were NOT born in India?

Posted: 25 Jun 2013 10:24 AM PDT

Ever notice how they've taken the entire country by storm but quite a few of Bollywood's reigning stars weren't even born in India. Some, of course, are pretty foreigners trying their fortune in the song and dance filled universe of Hindi films.

Bottom-line: In Bollywood, it hardly matters where you were born or what nationality as long as you are talented or successful.

Here's looking at the born-outside-India stars of the industry.

Deepika Padukone

Daughter of badminton star Prakash Padukone and travel agent Ujjala, Deepika was born in Danish capital, Copenhagen, since her father was undergoing an extensive training session. They moved back to India when she was barely a month short of turning one.

Fortune has favoured the leggy star ever since she made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om and looks poised for another money-spinner in the duo's upcoming Chennai Express.

Neetu Chandra Refuses To lock lips with porno star Sunny Leon

Posted: 25 Jun 2013 10:17 AM PDT

We recently witnessed a gay kiss on-screen in Bombay Talkies, where Randeep Hooda kissed his co-star Saqib Saleem. Though Randeep was quite cool about it, his former lady love Neetu Chandra refused to lock lips with adult entertainer Sunny Leone, when opportunity beckoned.

Reportedly, Neetu was recently offered a film in which she had to kiss her co-star Leone, however the actress was wary of this scene and therefore refused to do the movie. Thankfully, the makers of the film are not upset with her because of it. "I couldn't do the film and I explained my reason to the producer and the producer understood my reason which I really respect," says Neetu.

The film in question is Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS 2 and now Sandhya Mridul has been signed up to play the part which was earlier offered to Chandra.

Vidya Balan wants to work in more films with Emraan Hashmi

Posted: 24 Jun 2013 12:51 PM PDT

Vivacious actress Vidya Balan today expressed her desire to act in more and more films with Emraan Hashmi, her co-star in the upcoming film Ghanchakkar.

"It was exciting to work with Emraan and complete the film (Ghanchakkar) and I hope there will be people who want to cast us together in many films. I hope the film's director Rajkumar Gupta capitalises on my on-screen chemistry with Emraan and makes another film with him," she told reporters at the promotion of the film here.

In Pics: Ghanchakkars Vidya, Emraan in masti mood

Vidya said she did not even expect to act with Emraan again so soon after The Dirty Picture.

"Ghanchakkar is a new kind of film and we both play different roles. I had great time with Emraan while doing the film. He is a fantastic actor."

She said Emraan has changed altogether while playing the crazy character.

"He is talking, smiling and laughing a lot now because of the of the kind of film we have worked together in. It is a mad, mad (and) crazy film."

The Bollywood diva plays Neetu Athray aka Mrs Ghanchakkar who is described as a woman with a sweet demeanour with a firebrand Punjaban trapped inside.

Asked to pick between the roles Vidya played in 'The Dirty Picture' and Ghanchakkar, Emraan said both the characters needed her to shed inhibitions and grow as an artiste.

Vidya, however, looked great and did a great job in Dirty Picture, Emraan said, adding, the actress also played her character in Ghanchakkar perfectly.

Reacting to Nepal-based writer Dhirendra Kumar sending legal notice to Ghanchakkar producer alleging plagiarism, Rajkumar said it is "utter nonsense" and no truth in it.

"I think the industry needs to slap a case against those who claim that the story belongs to them. In fact, the story was written by Pervez Sheikh as early as 2008," he said.
