Rani Mukherjee has all her hopes set on Anurag Kashyap's forthcoming 'Aiyya' to revive her sinking career. The movie has Rani playing a Marathi girl who finds a man desirable because he smells good. She stars opposite south star Prithvi Raj and director Sachin Kundalkar is quite confident about the chemistry between the two.
"I don't know for how many years I was trying to work with her (Rani). Luckily this script excited her. As far as the lead actor was concerned, one of my friends suggested Prithvi's name," Kundalkar said adding, "Prithvi is an amazing actor and both are looking very fresh in the film."
Rani has as many as three item numbers in the film. "The film is a mixture of reality and dream and Rani will be seen doing three item songs in her dream in the film. Amit Trivedi has composed six songs for the film and three of them will be Rani's item songs," explains Kundalkar.
Kunadalkar is all praises for Rani's charms and professional attitude. "Rani is very hardworking. She had gone through language training program before starting the film. She was a complete Marathi girl on the sets," he said.

Sonakshi is Akshay Kumar's lucky charm!

Posted: 18 Jun 2012 09:14 AM PDT

In an industry driven by superstitions, faith and fame, heroes may command the fatter pay packets. But it is the heroines who take the blame or the credit for the film's success. Little wonder then every Friday, a new lucky mascot is anointed by the ones who stake their money and their lives on the marquee.

And the newest entrant on this shrine to luck and lucre is Sonakshi Sinha. After the runaway commercial success of Akshay starrer Rowdy Rathore, Sonakshi has been signed on make a few sizzling moves to the tune of a fast paced number in Oh My God, co-produced by Akshay along with Ashwini Yardi under their banner Grazing Goat Productions.

For a long time, industry punters believed the Akshay-Katrina pairing was a fool-proof winning formula. From the looks of it, there is now a new girl on the block. When contacted, Ashwini confirmed the news. "Yes, we have just signed up Sonakshi." Interestingly, the film, based on Lord Krishna, has very little scope for a leading lady, and the small part is being essayed by Nidhi Subbaiah.

Clearly, the scope of the project has been expanded overnight to accommodate Sonakshi's newfound stardom. Is she Akshay's lucky charm? According to a source close to the development, not only the actor, the team is keen to repeat Prabhu Dheva as well, since the trio clicked so famously in Rowdy. "Akshay in fact recommended Sonakshi's name for the song, which has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Since the trio worked so well together, so why not once again?"

According to the source, Sonakshi was only too willing to take up the offer. "She did not take long to say 'yes'. She will start shooting for it very soon," the source added.

Oh My God is based on Paresh Rawal's popular Gujarati play Kanji Viruddh Kanji that was later remade in Hindi. The Hindi version, featuring Paresh Rawal in the lead, is called Krishna vs Kanhaiya. Umesh Shukla, who directed both the Gujarati and Hindi versions is also directing Oh My God where Akshay Kumar will be seen playing Lord Krishna.

Despite repeated attempts, both Sonakshi and Yardi remained unavailable for comment.

Kim Kardashian in Bigg Boss season 6?

Posted: 18 Jun 2012 09:00 AM PDT

Clamouring for the casting for Bigg Boss season 6 has begun in a big way. And if the casting agents are to be believed, American socialite, television reality star, model and actress Kim Kardashian is being wooed to come on the season 6 of the baap of all the reality shows... obviously for the oomph factor.

Apparently, the hitch is the price she is quoting, which is close to Rs 4.5 crore, as per the casting agents.

It may be recalled that the Bigg Boss season 4 had welcomed the busty hottie, Baywatch star and Playboy cover girl Pamela Anderson, and in the last season it was the porn star Sunny Leone, who was shacked up with the reality show's dirty dozen.

Agents say, that filling in the controversial slot after Sunny Leone, who had captivated the audience's heart last year, would be tough. They want someone super sexy. And coordinators are pitching in aggressively. "We have approached many international celebrities for Bigg Boss but I can't divulge the names right now," says Deepak Dhar, Endemol India CEO.

And probably if the deal with Kim works out, wonder what drama will unfold in the Bigg Boss kitchen since the reality star recently told her family on her reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, that she finds Indian food "disgusting". Her off-handed remark had drawn criticism throughout twitter sphere. "I think it's good Kim Kardashian doesn't like Indian food, because that means she won't ever visit India and that in itself is a blessing," one user wrote.

Wonder then, ab Indian khana kaise hazam hoga?

Sharman’s ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’ makes profit

Posted: 18 Jun 2012 08:57 AM PDT

"Ferrari Ki Sawari" is Sharman Joshi's first solo hero film and has no female lead, but it has managed to pull in viewers and ended grossing about Rs.14 crore in the first three days of its release.
Made at a budget of Rs.10 crore, including publicity and marketing, the film about father-son relationship has already recovered its cost.
"The film is doing extremely well in all our cinemas. Friday we had around 60 percent occupancy while Saturday-Sunday had over 80 percent occupancy," Anant Verma, director and business head of DT Cinemas, told IANS.
Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, "Ferrari Ki Sawari" is Rajesh Mapuskar's first directorial venture and hit the screens Friday.
Distributed by Vinod Chopra Productions, it also stars actor Boman Irani and introduces child artist Ritvik Sahore as Sharman's on-screen son.
Said Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts: "The film opened with 100 percent occupancy in Delhi multiplexes."
On Friday, the film collected Rs.3.04 crore and the collections increased to Rs.4.5 crore on Saturday and on Sunday it was Rs.6.40 crore, making a total of almost Rs.14 crore.
Apart from the performances, the other highlights of the film are the sequences shot at Lord's Cricket Ground in London, actress Vidya Balan's item number "Mala jao dya na ghari" and the red Ferrari, owned by cricket star Sachin Tendulkar.
"The response was slightly lukewarm on Friday but it picked up on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we had over 70-72 percent occupancy and was much better on Sunday. We have had largely family audiences, with lots of kids," Gautam Dutta, COO, PVR, told IANS.
In terms of competition at the box office, two entirely different films — romantic saga "Teri Meri Kahaani" and out-and-out crime thriller "Gangs of Wasseypur" — are releasing Friday.
So "Ferrari Ki Sawaari" has an entire week to impress the audiences. – IANS

Aamir Khan hopes ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ beats ’3 Idiots’ success

Posted: 17 Jun 2012 12:11 PM PDT

Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani starrer 'Ferrari Ki Sawari' hits the theatres today and Aamir Khan hopes that the film does so well at the box office that it beats the success of their movie "3 Idiots".
"I am here to wish the entire team. I am sure they have made a good film and Sharman is a nice actor and our wishes are with them. We want everyone who watched '3 Idiots' to watch 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' also. We wish that this film goes far beyond '3 Idiots'," the 47-year-old said here Thursday at the premiere of the film.
'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' is Rajesh Mapuskar's directorial debut and has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Rajkumar Hirani, who has edited the film, stated that the intention was to make a film for under Rs.100 crore.
"The film has not been made with the intention of crossing the Rs.100 crore mark. If that had been our intention, we would have been making at least one film a year. I take three years to make a film. If money was the intention, then every year we would have been making two films," said Hirani.
"Ferrari Ki Sawaari" tells the story of a father who will go to any length to fulfil his son's dream of becoming a cricketer. – IANS

Mukesh Bhatt's son debuts as director with 'Murder 3'

Posted: 17 Jun 2012 10:11 AM PDT

Mukesh Bhatt, whose production house is known for giving break to newcomers in the showbiz, is set to launch his son Vishesh as a director with his production venture Murder 3.

"Murder 3 will be directed by Vishesh. Next month is the 25th year of Vishesh Films and it marks the debut of Vishesh as a director," Mukesh Bhatt, who named the banner after his son, told IANS.

Mukehsh Bhatt co-owns Vishesh Films with his brother Mahesh Bhatt and the banner launched actors like Rohit Roy, Anu Aggarwal and John Abraham.

"This film (Murder 3) is as important for us as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was for Yas Raj Films or Maine Pyar Kiya was for Rajshri. This is a very important film for us," he added.
Directed by Anurag Basu, Murder featuring Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat, was released in 2004. Murder 2 came in 2011 and this time Mohit Suri wielded the megaphone, while Emraan and Jacqueline Fernandez played the lead pair.

But in Murder 3, Randeep Hooda has replaced Emraan and Aditi Rao Hydari will play his love interest.

" Murder 3 will be a different film. Unlike Murder and Murder 2, Murder 3 will not be an erotic film but will have sensuality. Last two films focused much on single screens, Murder 3 will be an up market film for the multiplex as well," said Mukesh Bhatt, 60.

He added that the film "will go on floors by July end" and that the "90 percent of the film will be shot in Cape Town".

Shraddha Kapoor is the new Aashiqui girl

Posted: 16 Jun 2012 09:07 AM PDT

Shraddha Kapoor
Shraddha Kapoor, daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapuri, made her Bollywood debut with 'Teen Patti' alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Then she had a three-film deal with YRF films under which she featured in 'Luv Ka The End' which was a disaster at the box-office. Then came a year long wait for Shraddha and there was no development at the YRF camp. Then, Shraddha got a call from Mahesh Bhatt's production house and she was offered Aashiqui 2 which she accepted.
When things with 'Aashiqui 2' were being finalized, YRF offered Shraddha another flick 'Aurangzeb' opposite Arjun Kapoor, which also required the same dates. Shraddha made her choice and joined the Bhatt camp with Aashiqui 2 without taking the consent from her production company. As such YRF were extremely upset with her and have asked her to leave.
The spokesperson of YRF said, "Shraddha was not a part of Aurangzeb and she has parted ways amicably as we had no films to offer her at this stage."
'Aashiqui 2' under Vishesh Films will feature Shraddha in a sensual and interesting role in the sequel. Shraddha confirms: "Yes, I am the new Aashiqui girl."
Besides Shraddha, the sequel will star Aditya Roy Kapoor, who is best known for his work in films like Guzaarish (2010) and Action Replayy (2010).

Shriya Saran to groove on an item number for ‘Zila Ghaziabad’

Posted: 16 Jun 2012 09:06 AM PDT

Shriya Saran
Shriya Saran has not had a very successful career in Bollywood. She has done some not so significant roles in flicks like 'Tujhe Meri Kasam', 'Mission Istanbul' and 'Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai'. Now, she will be seen grooving to a sensuous item song in Sanjay Dutt's forthcoming 'Zila Ghaziabad'.
Shriya is quite excited about the song and said at an interview, "I have done an item song in 'Zilla Ghaziabad'. It is a fun song. Every time I used to see myself on the monitor, I used to think 'Is that me'? As an actor, it is fun to experiment with your image. I have done many item numbers in the South, but this would be my first in any Hindi film."
Shriya Saran will next be seen in "Midnight's Children", a film adaptation of Salman Rushdie's 1981 novel of the same name. The film has been written and directed by Deepa Mehta.

After facing in much criticism for her post motherhood extra kilos and her not so happening dressing sense, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is back and how!! The actress charmed everyone with her elegance and grace at Cannes 2012 and once again, she made the jaws drop with her style and beauty at the opening of the Bulgari Hotel and Residences in London on June 12.
She was invited as a special guest to celebrate the opening of the Bulgari Hotel and Residences in the city. The event also had Dev Patel and Italian actress and filmmaker Isabella Rossellini as the honoured guests. Ash bonded well with Isabella and even invited her to her place.
Aishwarya looked stunningly beautiful at the event. Keeping in mind the fact that she is not exactly in perfect shape now, the actress opted once again for a traditional Sabyasachi Mukherjee creation.
The attire made of net and tulle was in black and white which complimented Ash's colour. The long black stole in net taken on one side had intricate golden thread work. It was very apparent that the actress has shed some extra kils and with her hair let open, her double chin was less visible.
Sometime back at the Longines event in Dubai, designer Sabysachi Mukherjee had said, "Aishwarya has the most beautiful face. If I were to dress her up again, I would make sure that her clothes are simple."
Not that we agree less!!
