‘Shootout at Wadala’ my most challenging film – Sanjay Gupta

Posted: 02 May 2012 10:10 AM PDT

His underworld drama "Shootout at Wadala" travels from 1978 to 1981 and director Sanajy Gupta says that creating the right background was a big challenge as everything has changed a lot in last three decades. "It is the most challenging film which I have shot till date. It covers 1978-81. Everything has changed, including Mumbai and getting that right was a difficult task," Gupta, who made "Kaante", "Zinda", "Dus Kahaniyaan", told reporters Tuesday. The director has wielded the megaphone to narrate the story of Mumbai police's first registered shootout in hwich they gunned down gangster Manya Surve in 1982. He has also scripted and produced the film. The star cast of "Shootout at Wadala" seems to be quite a feast for the eyes – it stars Bollywood's hunk John Abraham along with Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood. They all look in perfect shape. The movie franchise is evolving in India, and Gupta supports it and said: " 'Shootout At Wadala' is also a franchise. It is difficult to say exactly what it will be, but there will be another shootout soon. But we will only make one when we are convinced of the strong story." It’s not risky to work with new directors: Akshay Kumar

Posted: 01 May 2012 11:33 AM PDT

He takes pride in saying that he gave some of his biggest hits with new directors and even today Bollywood star Akshay Kumar feels there is not much risk involved in working with debutants.
"I have given some of my best films with new directors – Abbas-Mustan in 'Khiladi', Guddu Dhanoa in 'Elaan' and Naresh Malhotra in 'Yeh Dillagi'… – there is a long list of newcomers I have worked with. In recent times, I have worked with Sajid Khan in 'Housefull'," Akshay told IANS.
The 44-year-old also worked with Sabir Khan in his directorial "Kambakhat Isqh", but it didn't work.
So is there any risk factor involved in working with fresh talents?
"It is not at all risky to work with newcomers… they have the greed, they want to do something, they want to prove themselves. I like working with newcomers because they have new ideas. With due respect to all other directors, who also make good films, I enjoy working with newcomers a lot," he said.
In fact, one film old director Neeraj Pandey is directing him in the upcoming movie "Special Chabbis".
"The whole idea is to do different films with different directors. My responsibility in 'Special Chabbis' as an actor is to follow my director thoroughly without giving any inputs," he said.
"'Special Chabbis', 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again' and 'OMG' are the films I will be proud to be associated with," he added.
The actor says he not only works with first time directors but also enjoys hiring fresh talents for his production houses – Hari Om Productions and Grazing Goat.
"I am making a film under my another banner, Grazing Goat, with director Umesh. He has directed plays with Paresh Rawal and I liked one of his plays. I have taken the rights of the play and I am making it now. Paresh is there in the film and its called 'OMG'. I hope it will get released by September this year. No, I am not acting in it," he said.
Asked about the content of "Special Chabbis" and "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again" and he says that he is bound by the contract and can't divulge any details.
"I can only tell that 'Once upon A Time…' is a continuation of part one. As far as underworld goes, I know as much as is printed in paper about the underworld. I understand what is happening around us, which city is facing what problem," he said. – IANS

Paoli Dam’s next on the bold subject of wife swapping

Posted: 30 Apr 2012 11:38 AM PDT

Paoli Dam boldness
She has displayed her attitude and boldness in her recent release 'Hate Story' where she plays a revenge-seeking hooker. Now, she is all set to play another bold character in yet another bold subject in Vikram Bhatt's next flick 'Love Games' based on the controversial subject of wife-swapping. We do not need to mention here that Paoli has been the choice owing to her uninhibited display of sensuality in her Bollywood debut.
Syas Vikram, "Paoli has the courage to go beyond her body on camera. That's where I want to go with Love Games. "
Paoli Dam confirmed the reports elaborating further about the film saying, "Love Games is another bold film, I agree. Vikram and I are working on my character. Rest assured I won't be doing what I'm expected to. My character won't resemble what I played in Hate Story. "
Speaking on the controversial subject of spouse swapping, Vikram says, "Why do you say wife-swapping is taboo? You'd be surprised to know how many urban couples indulge in it. It's prevalent, almost rampant in the big cities. Go on the internet. There are websites devoted to wife-swapping.
That's what we've come to. I want to explore the psychology of wife-swapping. How does a man tell his wife to go and sleep with his friend and how does the wife give consent to her husband's sexual tryst with another woman?
More importantly, how do the husband and wife look at each other in the eye the morning after? These are questions that haunt me. "
