SRK's Devdas in the top 10 films of the Millennium

Day after Shah Rukh Khan hit headlines for his brawl with Mumbai Cricket Association officials at Wankhede, the actor finds one of his films in the top 10 films selected by Time magazine. His film Devdas stands 8th on the list of top 10 movies of the Millennium so far.

Time describes the film visually intoxicating musical. The other films on the list are Oscar winning silent film The Artist, Moulin Rouge. Director Baz Luhrmann was influenced from Bollywood and it all happened after he visited India. A little bit of Raj Kumar Santoshi's film song Chamma Chamma was used in the film.

Both James Cameroon and his ex-wife too have their films in the top 10 films. Avataar Cameroon's top grossing film which earned twice more than his classic Titanic and Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Synecdoche, New York, Lord of The Rings and Wall-E are the other films.

On Thursday, at the age of 63, Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco, left behind her work - splendid numbers like She works hard for the money, Forgive Me, Last Dance and many more, as she passed away in her Naples home. It has been reported that this superb entertainer was suffering from cancer.

Having reigned the music dance floor from the mid-70's right through the 80's, Donna Summer enjoyed a loyal fan following that only grew with time. Known for her versatality, and unique voice and rendition, Summer contributed to various genres of music - from rock to funk, from R&B and electronica to gospel, she did it all.

A winner of several Grammy Awards, Donna Summer was seen in a solo act in 2009 in an Oslo concert where she honoured US President, Mr. Barack Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize. On news of her death, President Obama issued a statement to the press. It read, "Her voice was unforgettable, and the music industry has lost a legend far too soon."

With Donna Summer's accomplishments, one would've assumed her inductment at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unfortunately that hasn't happened, and Jon Landau, Chairman of the nominating committee, felt the need to express in a unique statement, "There is absolutely no doubt that the extraordinary Donna Summer belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," Mr. Landau wrote. "Regrettably, despite being nominated on a number of occasions, our voting group has failed to recognize her - an error I can only hope is finally and permanently rectified next year."

Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines, the singer was one of seven children. It was early in life that she decided she would make a career in music. Born in Boston, Donna Summers shifted base to Germany where she performed as a studio vocalist.She also participated in musicals and partook in the operas.
