Mallika Sherawat’s bold and sexy look at Cannes premiere of Madagascar 3 Posted: 21 May 2013 12:06 PM PDT Mallika Sherawat made her first appearance at Cannes in a rather conservative brown Victoria Beckham dress. She went for a knee length body hugging dress with a cowl neck accessorized with a small pendant, a messy hairdo, golden watch, minimal makeup and small hangings. Next, when she made a second appearance at the Cannes premiere of Madagascar 3, she went for a complete bold and sexy transformation with a backless nude coloured gown. The dress designed by Paris based designer Ali Madhavi was held together by a thin waist belt. Mallika went for a winged out eyeliner, bouffant hairdo and a pair of classic diamond earrings to complete her look. Mallika shared her pic on Twitter and wrote: "Wow, red carpet HUGE SUCCESS,landed full page GALA mag,thx Ali Madhavi for the beautiful dress:)" This is Mallika Sherawat's fourth year in a row at Cannes Film Festival. This year, she has also been invited to Cannes by amfAR – The American Foundation for AIDS Research. |
Shilpa Shetty’s son Viaan Raj Kundra turns 1 today: Happy birthday! Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT Shilpa Shetty's son Viaan Raj Kundra is all set for his first birthday party today. We are sure there's an air of celebration at the Kundra house. Yummy mummy Shilpa and doting daddy Raj Kundra must be pampering their kiddo to their heart's content. In fact, Mr K even tweeted thanking people who have wished his star son, "Thank you so much for all the good wishes and blessings," he wrote. There's no doubt Viaan is a star already. From posing with his sexy mommy on the covers of popular glossies to watching cricket matches at the stadium – he has done it all. He is a natural in front of the camera, with no hint of inhibition on his face. We wish junior Kundra a very happy b'day along with his sweet li'l family…. |
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya at Cannes photo shot! Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT The Bollywood diva posed with her daughter at the window of her hotel in France Even as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been busy decking up in designer wear and posing for the shutterbugs at the Cannes International Film Festival 2013, the Bollywood diva is making sure her duties as a mother are not neglected. Her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, who accompanied her to the festival along with granny Vrinda Rai and a maid, is getting enough attention from her momma and more. Although shielded from the direct flash of the paparazzi, one-and-a-half-year-old Aaradhya got her share of the spotlight when Aishwarya posed with her at the window of her hotel room. The picture is a rage on Twitter already. While the Bachchan bahu was pretty in her very corporate black and white outfit, it's the li'l Bachchan daughter who stole the show in a red top and printed bottoms. And seeing those long legs, we know the child is gonna grow up to be a tall young lady. And since we know that her colleagues at the brand she has endorsed for so long have all met Beti B, we have to wonder – is Ash predicting a modelling career for her baby already? |

Veena Malik tries to sell…with sex! Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT The Pakistani wannabe starlet visited the red light district in Mumbai to promote her new film, Zindagi 50-50 Sometimes we just gotta wonder about life. She is not bad looking, she is not too old, she is not that bad an actor that she cannot be moulded and she could be any one of the many PYTs trying to make it in Bollywood. But then why – and this is an impassioned plea – does Veena Malik insist on taking the down and dirty fast track to fame…or should that read 'notoriety'? Instead of taking it slow and steady and working on her acting chops, this gal has chosen to shed all her inhibitions after she shed her clothes and is working it with a flash of flesh and a pout of over-painted lips to grab attention. And where Sherlyn Chopra has gone kind-of, maybe, perhaps, borderline respectable with her bona fide shoot for Playboy magazine and a film being showcased at Cannes, Veena has just sunk lower in the cheap stakes with every move she has made, from denying a nude cover shoot to her latest stunt for that share of the limelight. Her latest is an appearance in the red light district of Mumbai (Kamathipura), where she met sex workers and distributed condoms, all to promote her new film, Zindagi 50-50, in which she plays a lady of the streets called Madhuri. And frankly, rude as we may sound, she fit right in to the environment she was visiting, with her overly low cut red top and those frighteningly pouty red lips…shudder! Ask us or not, but in our honest opinion, Ms Malik needs a new career guidance counsellor. She is on a track that will not get her more than C-grade (or below) projects in moviedom if she keeps going in her particular direction. But maybe that is what our wannabe heroine is aiming at…. Who knows! |
Is Preity Zinta serious about joining politics? Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT Currently busy promoting her first production venture "Ishkq in Paris", Preity said: "Off late, I have been thinking that I will join politics because it's so sad what is happening to our country." "I really want to be somehow involved in positively changing our country… One fine day (I) am going to come out and say vote for me," she said on "Star Speak" on UTV Stars. She has even made an imaginary picture of Priety Zinta, the politician. She said: "I will be a very glamorous politician. I will have nice hair, nice clothes, and I will not be corrupt. But I think it's important we start thinking about our country also because it's really sad what is happening to our country. How much do you genuinely need to eat? 'Khaane ke liye aap biscuit hi khaate ho, gold biscuit to nahi khaate ho'. So, survival is limited to one point. How much more do you want?" Having said that, she hopes that "people like me don't have to get into a political future, because there are good people. There are lots of good politicians. Don't get me wrong, but they are eclipsed by all the corruption. And the only way to make India shine is if all this stops. Because who is the one that suffers…it is always the man on the street and that breaks my heart." The 38-year-old actress is also the co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team King's XI Punjab. The show will be aired Monday. – IANS |
Aishwarya Rai extends Cannes stay for AIDS Research Foundation Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is busy with the ongoing 66th Cannes International Film Festival, is extending her stay in the French riviera to attend a fashion show for amFar (The American Foundation for AIDS Research). "The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show" for AIDS research will see Aishwarya walking the red carpet dressed in an exquisite gold-themed outfit designed by Tarun Tahiliani. Aishwarya, who is at Cannes as the ambassador of leading cosmetic brand L'Oreal Paris, has been a supporter of AIDS research and has attended the amFar event at Cannes a couple of times now. She has made arrangements to extend her stay at the movie extravaganza so that she could attend the fashion fundraiser Thursday. Aishwarya will also participate in the auction, proceeds of which will go towards AIDS research. Aishwarya has been asked to wear a gold-themed Tarun Tahiliani outfit for the gala since he is going to be the only Indian designer showing his creations at the Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show. The annual star-studded event, which draws in the creme de la creme of international cinema, is celebrating gold this year. As part of a unique fashion show, forty top models will showcase a collection of gold gowns and jewellery from legendary and emerging fashion houses across the globe. – IANS |
5 Reasons not to invite ex to your wedding Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT No matter how much we try to forget what we have left behind us, it is more often than not a difficult idea to let go easily of the past and take a detour from the once familiar and now closed route. This seems a little tougher when the past in question concerns sensitive human relationship of love and marriage. We all remember the mania that surrounded the news of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt getting married to Angelina Jolie earlier this year. Events took a humorous turn when their marriage became secondary and the speculations about Brad's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston attending the wedding assumed center stage. Will Jennifer Aniston feature on the wedding guest list or will she accept and be part of her ex-husband's marriage were questions that their fans and the media debated upon more extensively, thus, pushing the marriage in the offing to the sidelines. And parallel to this comes to mind the episode in 'Friends' where Ross is in a dilemma to invite Rachel (ironically played by Jennifer Aniston!) to his wedding to Emily and as if to make things worse he utters Rachel's name at the altar while exchanging marital vows. There are many such examples in our ordinary lives too when we find a Ross struggling to invite his ex while gearing up for a new start with a new partner; easier said than done it sounds! Here are the top five reasons why an ex should not be part of your wedding guest list: Exes can never be friends: Like two actresses in Bollywood can never strike a 'friendly' cord however much they try to prove it on camera, exes too are a couple of miles away from being good 'pals'. On a serious note, a deluge of emotions and fond memories of special moments lived and spent with an ex takes over the mind of the person, now getting married to someone else. This plays a discouraging force in allowing him/her to send out a wedding invitation card to the ex. It is awkward for the ex too to turn up to a wedding least anticipated, without him/her walking down the aisle. Psychologist and family therapist Dr. Gitanjali Kumar helps us understand the complex interplay of human emotions and says, "To imagine the ideal is to think that exes can stay friends and harbour no malice in seeing the other settling down with somebody else in life. That's the ideal, often unachievable. The tendency to forgive and forget varies from person to person and cannot be forced to subscribe to the golden rule of 'all is well'." Past is always sad: With the ex walking into the wedding hall (if invited) also walks in a sense of grief, rejection or betrayal (as the case may be) she/he is a strong reminder of. Recalling one of her friend-cum-client's example, Dr. Gitanjali explains, "She was invited to her ex's wedding but she chose not to be an attendee. Witnessing her once upon a time lover's marriage would come to symbolise her own loss and make her look like a fool. She feared that she might breakdown or show her vulnerable side leading to her own humiliation." I know how to move on without you by my side: A pure case of unrequited love. This is the most volatile condition of inviting an ex to your wedding. Anger and vengeance are the overpowering emotions playing here. You want to prove to your ex you have moved on and that the latter is still rotting in a miserable state (unless of course there's a new partner here too). When asked if she would invite her ex to the wedding, Bangalore-based media professional Surabhi said, "Why not, he should be there to see what a loser he is and that I am happily going with a partner better than him." An invitation with the motive of satisfying spite or sadistic pleasure is not a marker of maturity as far as the would-be groom or bride is concerned. Dr. Gitanjali blames it on the "media and the daily soaps responsible for breeding a culture of revenge, aggression and intolerance among youth. Spare me the jeers and sympathy: You were almost married to the one you loved, but fate had other plans. For Nitya Sharma, working in a PR firm, it was nothing less than a nightmare, "We were engaged and the dates of our marriage had been fixed but the family developed cold feet later and my guy too decided to call it off." Now she hears he is getting married to a girl of his parents' choice and she has been 'invited'. "I definitely cannot face the same people who had once come to my engagement ceremony and reconcile myself to be one of the guests now when I could have been the bride," adds a resentful Nitya. Self-respect and dignity seem more important than surviving friendly ties with an ex. You cheated on me: This comes as a rebound effect to a failed and short-lived relationship in terms of one of the partners being accused of infidelity, lack of commitment or let's say being over-possessive. You hurry toward the prospect of marriage as a healing therapy from a wounded past affair. Sociologist Reeta Brara cautions against such a proposal and says, "If the history of the previous relationship has been bitter, then there is no point calling someone to the wedding who would remind you of an acrimonious past. And if there had been commitment issues and infidelity charges then inviting an ex can be more of inviting trouble," she adds. |
Shah Rukh Khan's bodyguard hired for Ranbir Kapoor Posted: 21 May 2013 12:03 PM PDT Yusuf, who has been guarding Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan on his promotional city tours for years, currently has a new assignment. His job is to guard B-Town's sweetheart Ranbir Kapoor. And, Yusuf felt a sense of deja vu when he accompanied Ranbir to Indore and Kanpur three days ago to promote 'Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani'. A unit source says, "There were around 8,000 people at the Kanpur mall where Ranbir visited and about 1,000 at the Indore hotel booked for his stay. The organisers and Yusuf had a tough time getting the actor into the elevator. The security guard had only experienced something like this when Shah Rukh visited places. And though he was prepared for the mayhem because of his past experience of guarding SRK, there was a brief moment when he was taken aback seeing the impact RK Jr had on the cities. Not even the sweltering heat and the dust caused by the posse of vehicles that wheeled in because of the film unit's presence could deter the people from crowding there to catch a glimpse of the Kapoor scion. And, Yusuf stood like a rock around the star." |
