Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar team up for Don 3?

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 10:26 AM PST

The actor who has taken time off from Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express, has reportedly been looking at several new projects, including Farhan Akhtar's Don 3

What's in the air at Mannat? From the sounds of it, Don 3 and may be Rohit Shetty's next, which Shah Rukh has reportedly taken a shine to.

TOI has learnt that SRK, who is on a short break from Chennai Express right now, has had several meetings with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, to firm up the fine print for the third installment of the slick and commercially successful franchise.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, SRK also lavished praises on Rohit Shetty, saying how much he has enjoyed working with him for Chennai Express. "We are looking at two more scripts," he said, indicating that he may work with the filmmaker soon again.

So where does that put the other keenly awaited SRK-starrer? According to sources, SRK has been taking his time over Happy New Year, to be directed by Farah Khan and produced by SRK's Red Chillies.

"SRK was supposed to help Farah finalise the casting for her film. It was expected that Farah will announce the name of her heroine - there has been quite a bit of speculation on who that is - at the beginning of the year. But no one, except Abhishek Bachchan and SRK, have been finalised for the four-hero project yet," said a source.

In fact, the script for Happy New Year has been locked, and songs are also about to be recorded, but with the casting yet to be finalised there is enough and more room for speculation.

There have been reports that Farah may be tweaking the role of the female protagonist Mohini, who hails from a Bhandup chawl, to accommodate a fresh face from the South. But the filmmaker pooh-poohed all the reports, and insisted that she is not willing to compromise on her script.

"I need someone who can match up to the four men in the film. Someone who is not too young, since my hero is mature. A girl who can emote, looks good and can dance well. There is no way I will make any changes to this character," she insisted.

As for the delay in finalising the casting, she said, "I am waiting for Shah Rukh to free himself from Chennai Express," said Farah to TOI. "We have not had the time to discuss the project in a while, but we will very soon," she assured us.

Ranbir Kapoor to co-produce Bombay Velvet

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 08:29 AM PST

Ranbir Kapoor, who has been toying with the idea of producing a film for a while, has taken a small but significant step in the direction. The actor, who is gearing up for Anurag Kashyap-headed Phantom Productions' most ambitious project, Bombay Velvet, has agreed to come on broad as a co-producer. When contacted Ranbir said:"Innovative content excites me and I believe the Phantom team is a pioneer at it. This seems to be the perfect time in my career to take up bigger ownership of a film and be a producer. " A source close to the development elaborated: "Anurag had several meetings with the presenters of the film, Viacom 18. The film has an epic canvas, with a budget of approximately 95 crores. Ranbir was not a part of the proposal at that time, since the casting was far from final." For a while Ranbir was not even sure if he would play the lead in the film, as there was a toss up between the projects of Anurag, Abhinav and several other scripts in the interim. While Abhinav's Besharm is already underway, where the actor has agreed to a profit-share model with the producers, the decision to coproduce Bombay Velvet was taken recently. Vikas Bahl, from Phantom Productions said: "As a team we realised his inputs to the script is much more than an actor's. He looks at the bigger picture, the scope of the film beyond his role. And that is when it occurred to us that it would be great to have him play a part in the production as well." Apparently, during one of the script reading sessions, Ranbir was asked if he would like to play a bigger role in the film, and he agreed. However, it is not decided if Ranbir's name will be featured in the film credits as producer. Bombay Velvet, based on historian Gyan Prakash's Mumbai Fables, is the story of how the city became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and Jazz music. The film is a part of a trilogy that aims at recreating Bombay of the 50s, 60s and 70s and co-stars Anushka Sharma.

7 Things you shouldn't tell your husband

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 11:23 AM PST

Here's what you should never utter about that ex of yours to your partner if you want a smooth relationship.

Confessions are good, but not always. To stay in a happy relationship we suggest some things left untold to your present. Trust us, what they don't know, won't hurt them. At least you'll be spared of your current popping up those memories when you two have a fight.

OH! the sex was great
On the backseat of the car, in the elevator, on the balcony, on the bean bag, and wherever else you might have done it! Be you careful, lady, before spilling those beans to your man. Bragging about your past sex life is so not done because we're sure your guy would be scarred listening to your sexcapades. So keep those details at bay from your current flame lest you may get in trouble. Also, even if your partner is fine listening to those sex-tales but has never experienced even a wee of that, you'll surely be at the receiving end of a whole lot of cribbing.

He called, we talked, it was nice
Your ex is back in town, or is starting up a new project, or is kicked about his newly joined swimming classes. We know your partner surely has zilch interest in those details. Keep it for yourself, also, maybe for your gal-pals (they'll love listening that goss.)

Gosh, he once told me the same thing
In romance, it's mostly tried and tested, but nothing like making your partner believe 'wow! that's new'. So if you've heard the exact same thing from both your current and your ex, don't you jump up with glee saying, 'This must be true coz I've heard the exact same thing from my ex!'

I cheated when with him
Your ex was 'drab', true to every letter in the word 'drab'. And you cheated on him with his best friend or with any other man. We warn you, don't let out that detail to the current love of your life. Listening to your past cheating experience, he might just hire a spy on you, so he be cautious.

That was special
We know most romantic encounters are special. But it's okay if you conceal that bit from your current. Nothing will get him more jealous or upset than you telling him, "Well! That was special."

And we've won the best couple award
Everytime you got clicked with your ex beside, people would go 'Aww'. Cute, yes! We don't deny you might have been the best couple in town seeing whom other couples would turn green with envy. But maybe you'd want your partner to believe otherwise. Just so he has no complex and stays happy.

SRK invited by Harvard to deliver lecture

Posted: 05 Feb 2013 10:00 AM PST

Last time Shah Rukh Khan was invited to deliver a lecture in the US, it was not without its hiccups. He was detained at the New York airport for a good two hours leading to outrage and furious debates in both countries.

After almost a year, the actor has been invited again, this time to address the students of the prestigious Harvard University.

A source told TOI: "Representatives from Harvard University got in touch with Shah Rukh and asked him if he could spare some time from his busy schedule and deliver a lecture at their campus. However, SRK's work calendar is choc-a-bloc. He is about to re-start the Chennai Express shoot. Though he delivered a pretty impressive speech at Yale University last year (where he even got the Dean to shake a leg for him), the March trip to Harvard is on a more serious note that needs better preparation."

The details of this lecture are yet to be finalised. The date is expected to be announced soon, as well as the content of SRK's presentation. "Since SRK is an economics graduate and has been in the business of making films and runs a successful VFX company as well, most likely he will speak to the students about the economics of filmmaking in the world's largest movie-making industry," added the source.

Considering how US has traditionally 'welcomed' SRK every time he visited the country, one hopes this time the reception would be somewhat different.

Sonakshi agrees to a lip lock?

Posted: 04 Feb 2013 06:39 AM PST

Sonakshi Sinha maybe heading for her maiden on-screen kiss. Director Milan Luthria has managed to convince the 'Dabangg' actress, who has so far shied away from doing any intimate scene, to share a lip-lock with her co-star Imran Khan in her upcoming film 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2'.

"The makers of the sequel thought it was important to include such a scene, to match up to the steamy scenes of the Emraan Hashmi starrer. So,the original script of the sequel had a sensuous scene between Imran and Sonakshi," a source said. However, now the intimate scene might be toned down and reduced to a smooch. "Milan had few rounds of discussions with the actors. Although, Imran was game, Sonakshi needed some convincing," the source added.

Though Imran has done some risque scenes in the past, Sonakshi always had had her reservations. However, the scene was an integral part of the script that she has decided to make an exception. While Sonakshi refrained from commenting, Imran's spokesperson said, "Imran Khan understands the requirements of a script and will not shy away from a kiss if the script demands so."

Salman Khan found ‘Vishwaroop’ of Hollywood standard: Kamal Haasan

Posted: 04 Feb 2013 06:28 AM PST

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan says Bollywood superstar Salman Khan found "Vishwaroop", the Hindi version of his controversial film "Vishwaroopam", on a par with international standards.
"He (Salman) liked it immensely. He thinks it is of Hollywood standards. He liked everything about it," Haasan said Friday at a special screening of the film here.
Kamal Haasan is happy with the response to the movie in north India, but still awaits a decision regarding the ban on the movie's Tamil and Telugu version in Tamil Nadu.
Kamal Haasan was in Mumbai since Jan 31 promoting "Vishwaroop". The Tamil and Telugu version, "Vishwaroopam", still remains banned in Tamil Nadu following protests from Muslim groups over certain scenes in the movie, which seem derogatory to their community.
The versatile actor is now in Chennai and is likely to meet leaders of Muslim groups later here Saturday in a bid to lift the ban on his film
