If given an opportunity, the popular television actor would love to try her hand at portraying Anandi from the popular show on Colors, Balika Vadhu

Srishty Rode, who was last seen for a short time on Chhoti Bahu says that she would have loved to play Anandi, which is currently being portrayed by Toral Rasputra, "If I was given a chance, I would have loved to work in Balika Vadhu as Anandi. Everybody knows her and the character is something really different on the show."

Daughter of cinematographer Tony Rode, Srishty, whose big break was the Fair-n-Lovely ad, and appeared in shows like Yeh Ishq Haaye and then Shobha Somnath Ki on Zee TV. Her father, who has been in the industry for 35 years, was not so keen about Srishty entering showbiz, but after she appeared in the Fair-n-Lovely ad, he allowed her to fullfil her dreams.

Since then she has been pursuing her dream of acting. Srishty will now be seen as Sarita in Punar Vivah… Ek Nayi Umeed. Talking about her character, she said: "I have played the role of a college going girl, I have played a warrior princess in Shobha Somnath Ki, and now I will be playing a housewife. So, I am very happy and excited that I got something like this."

But the actor is really different from the character she is set to play in the show. Apparently Srishty has never worn a sari in her real life. Nonetheless, the actor stills claims to be super excited about the show. "I hope to learn a lot from it – acting-wise and dressing-wise".

Srishty took a break from TV after Shobha Somnath Ki, but reveals that she is a workaholic and gets bored if she does not have anything to do. Well, we hope the new show Punar Vivah…Ek Nayi Umeed starting on May 20 on Zee TV will keep the actor extremely busy.

The most famous Indian beauty in the world walks the red carpet at the French Riviera with her trademark elegance and impossible-to-replicate style statement. While Bollywood babes Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat made their striking presence felt at the glitzy gala this year, we were waiting for the amazing Ash magic to take over. So here comes the stunning Bachchan bahu at the 66th Cannes Film Festival and we can't help but stare at her in awe…

She knows the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and the frighteningly glamorous French Riviera like her own backyard. No wonder, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the darling of the international press. Even after her much-talked about pregnancy, her weight gain after childbirth and her repeated fashion faux pas, Ash continues to sizzle on the red carpet with her celestial presence.

This year Vidya Balan, who was present at Cannes as a special jury member, brought a breath of fresh air with her charm. The Dirty Picture actor's finely crafted ethnic wear including her trademark Kanjeevaram saree and the intricately designed maroon outfit made her the photographers' delight. We also spotted Mallika Sherawat in a beautiful off-shoulder outfit. And then there was the most style-sensible gal Sonam Kapoor who looked absolutely gorgeous in a beautiful Dolce & Gabbana floral gown. The side-swept hair and minimal accessories made Sonam look every bit a diva. After watching all these beauties, we were waiting for Ash, curious to know what she will wear this year! And then arrived the divinity in motion…

Putting her disastrous saree and jacket faux pas of the last year behind her, Aishwarya attended the screening of Inside Llewyn Davis on Sunday. The 38-year-old actor was a traffic-stopper in a black lace and sequined Elie Saab creation. She accessorised the high-voltage outfit with a black minaudiere. Her simple hairdo and minimal makeup made her look elegant. Off the red carpet too, she was a class apart in a white Saint Laurent shirt and a long mermaid-style Zac Posen skirt. The classy Armani belt made her look slimmer than her red carpet avatar. Later in the day, Ash was spotted in a heavily embellished black and gold Sabyasachi saree with a gold hair ornament at the gala. We like!

Tell us BollywoodLifers, was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan the best dressed on the Cannes 2013 red carpet?

Looks like the young actor is taking up daring roles quite early in her Bollywood career

After all, she is the daughter of the legendary Kamal Haasan, who is always ready to go to any extent to play different characters. Well, Shruti Haasan will play a Karachi-based sex worker in Nikhil Advani's D-Day.

The film has Arjun Rampal in the lead role. According to sources, Arjun plays a RAW agent, who falls for Shruti, a call girl from Napier Road, Karachi. In the picture, true to her character, the babe is seen in a bold hot avatar steaming it up. The star cast of the movie includes actors like Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan too.

D-Day is reportedly based on Indo-Pak rivalry and how the Indian agencies go all out to nail Dawood Ibrahim, played by the Agneepath villain.

I tell my son that to become an actor you don't need a six pack: Sunny Deol

Posted: 20 May 2013 07:15 AM PDT

Sunny Sunny Deol is a man with a knitted brow these days — he is trying to make sure that Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 fares well at the box office.

"There are three full time jobs — producing the film, managing everything around it and acting in it — which I'm handling at the moment, so obviously there's stress," he says.

In fact, the pressure took a toll on him during the movie's music launch a few weeks ago.

Biggies like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan turned up for the Deol family, and the celebration made it to the front page of every entertainment daily. But there was more to it, Sunny says, "We had planned a complete event for the movie's music launch, but all the actors turned up and the media went berserk. But, at the end of the day, the love, warmth and affection that everyone had for us created magic on stage that day."

He is hopeful now that the three of them — Dharmendra, Bobby and he — and the two actresses — Kristina Akheeva and Neha Sharma — will be able to charm the audience. He says, "The movie is the dearest thing we have. The first one was good and now it has turned into a franchise. We are carrying forward our characters from the first film, who were loved by the audience. Plus, Bobby and papa get to play parts which they otherwise would not. The three of us together are like three stars, but from the same family."

The Deols are enjoying what director Sangeeth Sivan has created with them in YPD 2. "Sangeeth did his first film Zor with me a few years ago. Then he did lot of films, but his strength is comedy. I have full faith in him."

There's also YPD 3 in the pipeline and Sunny is also thinking about direction again. But those are plans for another day. "At the moment, I just want to act, act and act," he says, "I've not been seen around in cinema for a really long time. And, I'm not seen at parties or on TV. There's been a huge gap, but now things are falling back into place — I have releases lined up, I am producing and acting in two films, plus there's Ghayal 2."

Lastly, there's his son Karan, who is preparing for his film debut. Says Sunny, "He is being groomed and in a year, we'll launch him. Times have changed. There's a lot of emphasis on presentation, but I don't want him to believe that to become an actor you just need a six pack or dancing skills and no acting."

The industry is also far more competitive than what it was earlier, he accedes, and that's why he tells his son to not let the world dictate how he should be. "Most people put up an act these days. We are acting more in real life than on-screen and that's what I advise my son against," he says.
It's been more than 30 years now since Sunny started acting, and he still isn't satisfied. "There's lots more to achieve and the day I think I have achieved something, I'll have to stop because I will be so full of myself," he concludes.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, produced by Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd and YPD Films UK Pvt Ltd, releases June 7
