Party with Sallu for Rs 1.75 crore

Posted: 15 Jun 2012 09:37 AM PDT

With a string of hits to his credit, Salman Khan is not just one of the highest paid actors when it comes to films. He has reportedly been quoting a jaw-dropping Rs 1.75 crore to make an appearance at events. What's more, the actor also wants to be ferried in chartered flights.

Reportedly, Salman, after the success of Wanted, Dabangg and Ready, has raised his fee to a whopping Rs 50 crore (which includes profit share).

But the box-office effect has rubbed off on the actor's off-screen aura as well. According to an insider, recently when he was offered Rs 1 crore along with a chartered flight for a couple of events in Dubai, the actor flatly refused to take them up.

Insiders revealed that this sudden and staggering hike in remuneration is a brainwave of Salman's manager Reshma Shetty. According to reports, she was also the one who had convinced Salman to hike his fee for Dus Ka Dum and Bigg Boss.

Sources close to the actor told TOI that more offers for events (business launch, birthdays, weddings) have started pouring in. "Everybody wants Salman to perform at their event. If one person fails to offer him the amount of money he asks, another will," said the source.

But Salman's spoils of success don't stop at merely a price hike. TOI has learnt that certain producers even consult the actor whether he wants the director of the film changed before he signs the project. And though, Salman does not push his choices, he does mention names of his favourite directors and asks the producers to select one.

Reshma Shetty did not respond to our calls and text messages. Neither did Salman.

Salman Khan to play Hanuman

Maybe it's pure coincidence that the actor chooses to remain a bachelor offscreen as well. But we hear Salman Khan is Uru Patel's actor of choice when it comes to playing Lord Hanuman in the producer's modern-day re-telling of the epic Ramayana that he plans to put on floors next year.

Salman Khan will be Uru's contemporary Hanuman, a super hero who can fly over mountains and skyscrapers to rescue Sita from the evil present-day Ravana. A source close to the project revealed the role had initially been offered to Aamir Khan but "somehow, things did not materialise."

Word is Uru is keen on Hollywood stars Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldman portraying Rama and Ravana, respectively. And while Shilpa Shetty was to essay the role of Sita, the actress opted out after the stork came visiting her. The latest being the hunt is on for a fresh international face to play Sita. Uru's Ramayana, incidentally his brother Raju's (late brother-in-law of Kumar Gaurav) dream, will see all the epic characters being reborn in 2012-13 New York.

"Uru wants to turn that dream into reality. Salman has shown interest. Things are being worked out but it's not going to be easy putting the film together. The cost is going to be astronomical as well," said the source.

Being fat is not sexy: Kareena Kapoor

Posted: 15 Jun 2012 09:28 AM PDT

While actors like Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha are known for their curves, Kareena Kapoor believes that being big is uncool. She has been on a strict diet for over a month to look lean and sexy for a song she's shooting for an upcoming film.

Says Bebo, "I have gone back to the size-zero look I had in Tashan, but this time it is curvier. I wanted this body for my item song in the film. Since it is a rigorous and raunchy number, I decided to go for a slim and sexy look. But I still have curves in the right places. It may be a trend now with some actors, but I definitely don't want to look plump or fat!"

Vidya and Sonakshi aren't just comfortable with their curves, they're calling it sexy. Bebo retorts, "Being fat is not sexy! Anyone who says that is talking crap. Voluptuous is sexy, but fat is out. Any woman who says she doesn't want to be thin is talking nonsense. It's every girl's dream."

Kareena's dietician Rujuta Diwekar has developed a challenging diet for the actor. Says Kareena, "The key to a sexy figure is a great diet, combined with the right exercise. Rujuta combines fat and protein, and tells me to eat everything in moderation, and every two hours. She keeps changing my diet so that my body doesn't get bored. I recently went to Turkey for eight days and it was more like a health trip. I was training twice a day and was on a strict diet. I ate salads, hummus with pita bread, strawberries and olives. For dinner, I had an Indian cook make daal, rice and sabzi."

It isn't about diets only. The actor says, "I did my regular yoga exercises there too. I do 40 minutes of asanas and 50 surya namaskars."

She has a word of advice for people who go on crash diets like the no-carb diets. "How long can you go without carbohydrates? Some day you will have potato or rice."

How does Saif like the new Kareena? He's always maintained that he likes curves on his ladylove. Says Bebo, "He appreciates the fact that I love the challenge of disciplining myself for a role and how I do it. Saif always gives me the encouragement I need."

‘Flaunt’ calls Freida Pinto as ‘Museum Quality Beautiful’

Freida Pinto has never been a conventional actress and the girl has already played several nationalities successfully. Her latest photo shoot with the indie fashion magazine Flaunt reveals her ultra glam side as she displays the retro look of the 50s. Freida looks sensuous in a short raven-haired wig, flaunting wardrobe from designer labels like Bottega Veneta and Versace. The magazine has an exclusive interview by Freida where she gets candid about her career and her experience in Bollywood. She also explains the reason for her absence in Bollywood. She said, "When I was promoting this big-budget film, some Indian media reported that I was being a diva on set, and that's the reason I did not want to come to India to promote the film. I'm like, 'What? I'm in f***ing America. That's why I can't promote the film in India. It's not easy to be in two places at once.' It's not true." The magazine, too, seems impressed by the girl and she has been introduced by the mag as: "Freida Pinto is Museum Quality Beautiful".

Offers raining in for Salman Khan

Salman Khan is a busy man these days. In the past few months, the actor has delivered a series of superhits like 'Bodyguard', 'Ready' and 'Dabangg' and as such, producers are lined up before him, each eager to sign him up.
At present, Salman is busy with Arbaaz Khan's 'Dabangg' after which he will start work in Sohail Khan's 'Sher Khan'. This will be followed by Shirish Kunder's action drama 'Kick'. Besides all of these, other filmmakers who are in queue to sign him up are Anees Bazmi (who has been waiting for months to narrate the sequel to No Entry to the elusive superstar), Sooraj Barjatya, Sajid Nadiadwala, Subhash Ghai and Sohail Khan.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan has also agreed to an item song especially for his good friend Ajay Devgan for his forthcoming 'Son Of Sardaar'.
"We shot for one scene with Salman recently. But he will be doing the song by the end of July," the film's director Ashwini Dheer said adding, "Presently we are shooting in Mumbai and we have almost finished some portion of the shooting in Patiala."

The pairing of Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' hit the right notes and the film went on to be a huge box-office success. The two have been paired up once again for Yash Chopra's forthcoming untitled flick, only with a difference that this happens to be a love triangle and the other female lead in the film is Katrina Kaif.
Recently, SRK and Anushka shot for the film on a bike through the busy bylanes of Britain's capital. This particular bike scene was shot on the first day at the shoot and brought back the memories of the two stars as Taani and Suri riding a similar two-wheeler in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
After the shoot was over, SRK took Anushka for a fun ride along the streets of London and sure enough, they were aided with ample security to prevent mobbing.

Vidya's Silk act doesn't inspire Veena

Posted: 13 Jun 2012 10:53 AM PDT

Pakistani actress Veena Malik, who has been roped in to play the lead role in the Kannada version of The Dirty Picture, is not inspired by actress Vidya Balan's Silk act in the original.

"When it comes to acting, I would not say I am inspired from Vidyaji because I have not seen her film, The Dirty Picture," Veena said at a photo shoot for her yet untitled debut music album.

"I was planning to see it but when I got the Kannada version of the film, I decided against it because I did not want my character to have any outside imprints. Everyone is appreciating Vidyaji and no doubt, she is a wonderful actress," she added.

Veena's Bollywood debut film Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai is ready to release and currently she is shooting for Mumbai 125 km and Zindagi 50-50.

Recently, she has been in the news for her intimate pictures with her Mumbai 125 km producer Hemant Madhukar that were splashed in the media.

When asked her about these, Veena said: "That was not from my PR (public relation) team. We were also surprised to see those pictures. I don't know who clicked those pictures. But I would like to say, if going out with someone or having dinner means dating that person, then I think everyone is dating someone or the other."

She also added that she is working with various people in India and that she has a very good working relationship with them.

Veena would be seen with ex-boyfriend Ashmit Patel in Supermodel.

Priyanka Chopra pays tribute to Rekha at IIFA 2012

What could be a better way to pay tribute to an evergreen beauty and talented actress than opting for a performance on some of her greatest hit songs. So, it was when Priyanka Chopra paid a beautiful tribute to yesteryear actor Rekha at the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards on Saturday.
Priyanka Chopra performed on some of Rekha's evergreen numbers before Rekha herself came on stage to receive special honours for outstanding achievement in Indian cinema at the ceremony, organised by Wizcraft International Entertainment.
Priyanka performed on the remixed version of In aakhon ki masti ke from Umrao Jaan, Salaam-e-Ishq meri jaan, Pyar do pyaar lo and Pardesiya. Later, the veteran actress herself joined Piggie Chops on stage and the two gave a naughty performance on 'Rafta Rafta'.
On receiving the honours, Rekha said, "I would like to dedicate this award to my producers who have inspired me and the young actors of our industry like Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Priyanka Chopra…who are super talented. I am proud that I continue to be a part of the film fraternity."

Ranbir Kapoor steals the show at IIFA 2012

Ranbir Kapoor Rishi Kapoor IIFA 2012
Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor stole the limelight at the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards with their duo performance. Their performance started with Ranbir Kapoor's 'Rockstar' entry on 'Saada Haq' followed by "Tai tai phish" from "Chillar Party". However, the show took an impressive turn only after father Rishi entered the stage saying his famous "Karz" dialogue — "Kya tumne kabhi kisi se pyaar kiya". Then the father-son duo together grooved on the song "Paisa yeh paisa" from the Rishi's hit film "Karz".
The audience went berseck with applauses when the two stars competed with each other on the 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' version of each of their films. In the end, Ranbir Kapoor accepted his defeat, bowing at his father's feet to take his blessings.
Ranbir Kapoor once again stole his fans' hearts when he obliged to hosts Ayushmann Khurrana and Chitrangada Singh's request to imitate his family members.
"Tum log muzhe pitwaoge (I'll be bashed for this)," said Ranbir Kapoor reacting on the request and later, went on to mimic his great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor by saying one of his dialogues from film "Mughal-e-Azam" (Salim! Anarkali ko deewar mein chunwa do). He sang a song from his grandfather Raj Kapoor's film "Kiski muskurahato pe ho…" and danced like father Rishi Kapoor on "Paisa yeh paisa". The best part of the entire episode was his hilarious imitation of Kareena Kapoor on her song "Bebo main bebo".

Is Aishwarya Rai obsessively protective about Aradhya?

Posted: 12 Jun 2012 08:20 AM PDT

aish baby
The media captured yet another outing of mother Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with her daughter Aradhya at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, but once again they failed to get a glimpse of the seven month old baby who was cosily covered from top to bottom in a pink jumper and was protectively snuggled in Ash's arms. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, who came to receive Abhi, Ash and Aaradhya, were extremely casual and even dressed in their bedtime clothes!
However, what is funny is the way the Bachchans are protecting the baby from being clicked by the media where other celebs like Aamir Khan are proudly flaunting their newborns. Last time, when Aishwarya made a public appearance with Aradhya at the Nice Airport, she went overboard by hiding the baby not only in her arms but by also using a folder, a red Louis Vitton shawl and a suit jacket!!

Scintillating Kareena Kapoor in her ‘Halkat Jawani’ look

kareena heroine
If Kareena Kapoor's sensuous moves in 'Chammak Challo' and 'Dil Mera Muft Ka' were not enough, the gorgeous actress is ready with yet another sizzling song in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Heroine'. We do not need to mention here that Bebo looks oomphilicious in the Manish Malhotra designed fuchsia sari, teeny-weeny black choli and a string-thin pallu.
The song is titled 'Halkat Jawaani' and Kareena calls it "the raunchiest number ever". "This is the raunchiest number I have ever done. There's so much exposure," she is quoted to have said.
The song has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. Bhandarkar shared the first look of Kareena from the 'Halkat Jawani' song on Twitter with the tweet:
'Scintillating & beautiful Kareena in her HalkatJawani look on the sets of Heroine.'
