SRK says sorry, and we are back to loving him!

Posted: 29 May 2012 09:45 AM PDT

A win, a few somersaults, and an apology later, brand SRK's equity is high once again. The recent face-off at Wankhede could soon be history...

After his recent meltdown at the Wankhede Stadium, when things got pretty hot under the collar between him and the MCA officials, Shah Rukh Khan is back to being the Raj, Rahul and SRK we all love. Flush with excitement from the historic win against Team Chennai at the nail-bitingly exciting IPL finals, SRK was all contrition on Sunday night. "I want to apologise to the kids for my misbehaviour at MCA. I apologise to all who saw me differently. I shouldn't have behaved in that manner. But today my team has won, so I guess, all you fans should forgive me," said SRK, who was on the field post-victory, and accompanied by wife Gauri, daughter Suhana, and a few young 'cheerleaders'.

His very public apology also puts to rest all those who had predicted that they did not see an apology coming from the superstar for his alleged misdemeanour. They couldn't have been more wrong. When SRK quipped that not winning for this long makes you do things you aren't really proud of, one not only empathised with this feeling, but this observation also made him look like one of us, with all his vulnerabilities and frailties.

This victory, coming after a five-year drought, which saw SRK effect sweeping changes in his team composition and strategy, has once again made SRK the superstar we so love and who's lovable to bits. If anything, now with this apology, SRK's showdown now looks no worse than a child throwing a tantrum when denied a candy, and breaking into smiles the minute his will is done. All that the man wanted was a victory. With it came the smiles, hugs, cartwheels, and apology, making him all too human. And a very endearing one at that!

Court stays Subhash Ghai’s Haryana land deal

Posted: 29 May 2012 09:31 AM PDT

The Punjab and Haryana High Court Tuesday stayed Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts from performing any activity on a 20-acre plot purchased from a gram panchayat in Haryana, a lawyer said.
Ghai planned to set up a film institute on the land bought in October 2010 in Badhsa village in Jhajjar district, some 25 km from here.
Hearing a plea filed by Nafe Singh and others from the village, Acting Chief Justice M.M. Kumar ordered status quo on the land and the execution of the sale deed by the gram panchayat.
The petitioners' lawyer Deepak Balyan told IANS: "We told the court that according to the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Rules, the government could only auction such land."
The petitioners claimed that the land belonged to the village community and the gram panchayat and the state government had no right to sell it to a private firm.
The Badhsa Gram Panchayat had sent a resolution to the Haryana government Jan 6, 2010 to permit them to sell land to Mukta Arts. On Sep 22, 2010, the government allowed the panchayat to sell 20 acres of land at the rate of Rs.2,409,000 per acre. The deal was sealed Oct 11, 2010.
A court at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district earlier dismissed a public suit filed by villagers against Ghai acquiring the land. – IANS

I am not doing ‘Wanted’ sequel: Shahid Kapoor

Posted: 29 May 2012 09:29 AM PDT

Actor Shahid Kapoor has denied reports that he is starring in "Wanted" sequel supposedly being planned by choreographer-director Prabhu Deva.
"I don't think anyone can replace Salman Khan. I think because me and Prabhu Sir have been meeting up to do a film together and he is choreographing IIFA ( International Indian Film Academy awards) …people are jumping to conclusions," the 31-year-old said here Sunday on the Indian Premier League show Extra Innings.
"We have not decided anything yet, what we will do or when. But yes, we are very keen to work with each other. But these are all rumours, I have not said yes to anything," he added.
Directed by Prabhu Deva, "Wanted" was a remake of Puri Jagannadh's Telugu hit "Pokiri," starring Mahesh Babu.
Shahid is currently busy promoting his forthcoming film "Teri Meri Kahaani" starring Priyanka Chopra. Directed by Kunal Kohli, the film hits theatres June 22. – IANS
