"Oprah is coming here to shoot a documentary and she has expressed a desire to meet," the 35-year-old actor said here at the Filmfare Awards press conference. Aishwarya made her maiden appearance on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2005, the year in which she featured in an Indo-British production venture "Mistress Of Spices". Bipasha Basu upset with leaked birthday party video Posted: 11 Jan 2012 10:20 AM PST Bipasha Basu's crazy birthday party is out there on the internet for all to see. But the leaked video has left the actress miffed as she feels her privacy has been invaded. "I'm still in shock that my privacy has been invaded! These were private moments from my birthday that were leaked and I am very upset," tweeted Bipasha. The actress turned 33 Saturday, and true to her latest song "Ho gayi tunn" from her new release, "Players", Bipasha seemed to be high in the video. She can be seen dancing around with celebrity friends like Milind Soman, Aftab Shivdasani, Sikander Kher and Abhay Deol, amid a lot of drinks and cheers. She even cut a quirky cake, with special candles on it, and looked fabulous in a nude-coloured gown. She can even be seen dancing in the washroom with a couple of girls, and later grooving on the dance floor with Sikander. No wonder Bipasha is so upset. "Just because we are actors doesn't mean we are not entitled to our privacy! These troublemakers should just get more productive with their time!" she wrote. – IANS |
I wish I had made ‘RA. One’ better – Shahrukh Khan Posted: 11 Jan 2012 10:19 AM PST "I think it's very, very important in entertainment to get into merchandising, to get into gaming and be on the net… we cannot negate that any more, whatever the level of film you are making," Shah Rukh, who was honoured at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards 2011 with the title of Creative Entrepreneur of The Year in Mumbai, said in a tete-a-tete with the channel. SRK, known for coining some of the best marketing strategies to sell his films, associated with over 50 brands for his mega-production "RA.One". However, he received mixed reaction for the movie, which was directed by Anubhav Sinha. "It's very important because a film like 'RA.One' lends itself a little more, it's for children, it's superhero and stuff. I wish I had made it a little better because people started jumping on my back, 'Itna market kiya aur aisa picture banaya tumne (You marketed it so much, and made a film like this)', So, I got a little waylaid on that," he added. The movie, a sci-fi project, had a production cost of Rs.150 crore, and according to reports, his tie-ups to market the film were worth Rs.52 crore. Shah Rukh, a graduate in Economics, feels it's important to look at films as a product nowadays. "I think you really need to take films and think of it as a product and put it across, and inform everyone what this product is because it is very expensive to go and buy the ticket. "You know it's Rs.500-Rs.700, so you need to tell the customer this is what it is going to be. The more the channels you can inform on, I think more you are right about your product," said Shah Rukh, who had begun promoting "RA.One" months before its release. With "RA.One", King Khan also brought into spotlight the importance of technology in taking Indian cinema global. "To be really honest, even to the other producers and myself, I tell them put it (money) into the film, because I truly believe the technology and you know the way Indian films look… it's very important to go to the next level in terms of technology, otherwise we will lose. "…the danger is not that we are going to crossover or not, the danger is whether we are going to lose the Indian audience for the Indian films. We are the only country in the world which still has regional audiences, so to say. Otherwise Hollywood has taken over everywhere, and the only way we can make sure that we continue to have youngsters like our films is increasing our technology. "Otherwise 10 years from now there will be no Hindi films and I say that with utmost sadness. I really feel that if we don't push it a little more in terms of marketing and technology, we will not have Hindi films," added the 46-year-old. The event, which took place in Mumbai Saturday, will go on air Jan 14 on NDTV Profit. – IANS |
Bollywood soon, but not yet – Madhuri Dixit Posted: 11 Jan 2012 10:16 AM PST Will Madhuri Dixit feature in "Ishqiya" sequel or will she be seen as a judge on "Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa" yet again? Even as several rumours dog the actress's return to the arc lights, she hints that her fans will have to wait a little longer for her to make any official announcement. The 44-year-old was in town Tuesday to talk about her association with dental care brand Oral-B as the Chief Smile Officer of its Smile India Campaign. When she was asked when she will be ready to spread smiles in tinsel town, Madhuri told IANS: "Well soon, not yet!" She is quite secretive about her work plans so far, but admitted she is adjusting well with her husband Sriram Nene, and two kids – Arin and Raayan. "Mumbai is treating me well. I am smiling, so yes, it's great," she said. Madhuri, who delivered memorable performances in "Tezaab", "Ram Lakhan", "Sajan", "Beta", "Dil", "Hum Aapke Hain Koun!", "Dil Toh Pagal Hai" and "Devdas", had shifted abroad after tying the knot in 2002 with US-based doctor Nene. But now she has relocated to Mumbai. She accepted the role of a narrator to launch a new general entertainment channel Life OK!, and so there have been doubts whether Sony Entertainment Channel will let her sit on the judge's seat for the next season of dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" or not. For now, the lady with a million-dollar smile, is on a mission to spread healthy smiles across the nation through the Smile India Campaign. "I always spread smiles for the country wherever I go. But I want other people to do that more often. That's why I have associated with this smile movement. "I have always been appreciated for my smile ever since I joined films and people have appreciated me for that. My fan base says that the best thing about you is your smile, and I felt this was a nice way to give back," said Madhuri. The actress says the pre-requisite for a good smile is good teeth, and people should "brush twice a day, for two minutes each and visit the dentist every six months". – IANS |
Aurangabad crowd goes berserk over Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor Posted: 11 Jan 2012 09:55 AM PST It became a Herculean task for Kunal Kohli to shoot a song sequence with Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra for his tentatively titled "Teri Meri Kahaani" amidst unmanageable crowd in Aurangabad in Bihar. But he thanks his lead actress for maintaining her composure. Approximately 40,000 curious, eager, aggressive tourists and bystanders showed up to ogle, jostle and heckle at the Aurangabad Fort. The larger nightmare for them was getting to the fort. The cars carrying Shahid, Priyanka and Kohli's unit had to halt a good two km away from the interior of the fort. There was no choice but to walk the rest of the way. "We did have some difficulties. But it was all fine. The walk was tough. We had to go up to the foot of the fort on Tata Sumos and then there was no road, so we had no choice but to walk," said Kohli. "I've to say Priyanka is a very gutsy girl. We were all concerned about her security specially. But she was calm. Inside the fort people just bought tickets and kept trooping in. Yeah, we did have problems keeping them out of camera range and on a couple of occasions there were aggressive fans who tried to muscle in their way to get Shahid and Priyanka's attention. I've to thank the local administration and my team for managing the shoot," he added. The crowds were apparently uncontrollable and had to be warned off and threatened to back off. "The Aurangabad Fort has at any given time as many as 12,000 visitors. Kunal Kohli couldn't get permission to restrict the area. So he had to shoot with Priyanka and Shahid with the fort open to the public. As news spread about the two stars shooting in Aurangabad, crowds swelled inside the fort to unmanageable numbers," said a source. After a point during the shooting of the song, things began to get out of hand. Onlookers would repeatedly get into camera range, and when they were told to back off, they became unruly and finally unmanageable. But Kohli's troubles at Aurangabad are not over. Apparently fans and gawkers who had collected at the fort have taken pictures of Shahid and Priyanka shooting the song together and posted the pictures on microblogging sites, thereby giving away the pair's carefully-guarded look. "The song is set in 1910 and we had worked hard on Priyanka and Shahid's look. But the look is out on Twitter. How do you control fans from clicking pictures? You can't! You just have to bear with it," said Kohli. "But I really don't think the crowds in Aurangabad were doing anything they shouldn't have. It was perfectly justifiable for them to get excited about two big stars in their small town. The last star who shot in Aurangabad was Sunil Dutt more than 30 years ago. We tried to keep it a secret. But that was impossible," he added. – IANS |
Arbaaz Khan buries the hatchet with Anurag Kashyap Posted: 11 Jan 2012 09:48 AM PST Arbaaz Khan and Anurag Kashyap, who locked horns on Twitter last year, cleared their misunderstandings at Farhan Akhtar's surprise birthday party in Mumbai. "Met Anurag Kashyap at Farhan's party after his Twitter outburst. Had a long chat. All izz well now," Arbaaz tweeted Monday. The party took place Sunday midnight. Arbaz also posted a picture of the two of them in a side-hug pose with each other, displaying happy times. The Twitter war between the two filmmakers began after it was announced that Arbaaz will direct the sequel of 2010 blockbuster "Dabangg", helmed by Anurag's brother, Abhinav. According to reports, Anurag had felt Abhinav was asked to leave the project. So in anger, he posted negative comments about Khan brothers – Arbaaz and Salman. What followed was an exchange of bitter retaliation. Once Anurag learnt that Abhinav had opted out of "Dabangg 2″ himself, peace prevailed. But it is only now that Anurag and Arbaaz have buried the hatchet. "Dabangg 2″ features Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, and southern star Prakash Raj as the villain. The film will release towards the end of 2012. – IANS |
