World Cup 2011: Bangladesh play down importance of warm-up against Pakistan

Posted: 15 Feb 2011 03:09 AM PST

For regular visitors to the Mirpur venue, be it players, officials or journalists, it was like entering familiar terrain, but one that had a different feel to it. Bangladesh's premier cricket ground has been transformed into an excellence centre and it was fully utilised on Monday, with three teams taking the opportunity to enjoy the facilities. After England used the Academy ground in the morning, Pakistan began to use the newly-laid turf on the northern side while Bangladesh sweated it out at the indoor centre in the eastern corner while also using the green retreat of the main venue for their fielding drills.

Priyadarshan to work with Aamir on sexi film AIDS

Posted: 15 Feb 2011 03:04 AM PST

Mumbai, Feb 15 - Priyadarshan has worked with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The prolific director is now set to work with the third Khan - Aamir - and it will be a film on AIDS. 'I met Aamir and narrated my idea. He loved it. I now need to complete the script,' said Priyadarshan. The film on AIDS will have no songs, no comedy and no commercial trappings at all and it is likely to be produced by Aamir himself. Priyadarshan's other Hindi film 'Tezz' is on hold and the filmmaker is more than happy to go back to his roots in Kerala and start a venture with his favourite actor Mohanlal. 'So for now I'm back in Kerala writing a Malayalam film. It's a comedy with my favourite actor Mohanlal called 'The Arab Camel & Madhavan Nair' to be shot in Abu Dhabi,' Priyadarshan said. He chose Abu Dhabi as it has a large Malayalee population. 'Even the traffic cops and taxi drivers in Abu Dhabi speak Malayalam...I haven't directed a Malayalam film in seven years so I'm very excited,' he added. The comedy will also be made in Hindi. 'I haven't gone to Mumbai for three months.I was getting very uncomfortable with what was required of me in Mumbai. Now I'll return only to complete 'Tezz' and to direct the AIDS film with Aamir Khan,' Priyadarshan said. So what happened to 'Tezz', the large-budget action thriller featuring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Sunil Shetty, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Zayed Khan? The film is waiting for the sun to shine on its fate...quite literally. The makers are waiting for the sun to come out in Scotland where the rest of the film is to be shot. Explained Priyadarshan: 'About 40 percent of the film remains to be shot. I will complete it in one stretch in Scotland. But we cannot shoot it before summer when the sun comes out. I hope to complete and release 'Tezz' by year-end.' The only comedy that the filmmaker is committed to doing is the sequel to 'Malaamal Weekly' for Percept Pictures. Entitled 'Malaamal Robbery', it will be about a group of people robbing a bank only to discover it has no money. 'But no more comedies like 'De Dana Dan' for me,' Priyadarshan added. IANS

Lady Gaga looks like Madonna with sculpted bustier, high blond ponytail

New York, Feb 15 - 'Poker Face' singer Lady Gaga was seen looking like a replica of Madonna from the 1990s with her sculpted bustier and high blond ponytail while at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Gaga, 24, took to the stage to collect her statuette for Best Pop Vocal Album for 'The Fame Monster' in a black leather bustier with a sculpted breastplate, and she also wore her hair in a long, blonde ponytail, the New York Daily News reported. In 1990, Madonna introduced the Jean Paul Gaultier's cone bra and leotard, in both gold and black, on her smash Blonde Ambition tour. She also wore the now-iconic lingerie in her music videos for 'Vogue'. But it seems Gaga's dressing sense is not the only thing being compared, as critics have noted that the hotly anticipated single from her new album 'Born This Way' sounds a lot like Madonna's 1989 smash dance hit 'Express Yourself'. Almost half of couples actually break up on Valentine’ s Day

Posted: 14 Feb 2011 04:44 AM PST

Melbourne, Feb 14 - A survey has found that Valentine's Day, which is touted as a day of love, is being used by almost half of young people in Australia for breaking up. A Galaxy Research survey of more than 1200 people aged 18-39 has found 47 percent have chosen to end it with their partner on or around Valentine's Day after taking stock of their relationship. Commissioned by big-four bank NAB the relationships survey found most young Australians, 57 percent, did not like the day nor did they want to celebrate it as the most romantic of the year. Almost half - 44 percent - of respondents said Valentine's Day was a cynical marketing exercise designed to make couples shower each other with flowers, chocolates or underwear, while one-in- four singles saw it as a day of dread and a time to feel bad about themselves. The survey has been launched as part of a cheeky anti-Valentine's Day campaign spear-headed by social commentator and author Zoe Foster to encourage people to evaluate their relationships, including with their banks. Foster, who co-wrote 'Textbook Romance' with radio funny man Hamish Blake, said that while for some couples Valentine's Day could be filled with happiness it was also a time when couples assess their relationship and looked at options. Between New Year and February 14 is a time when many evaluate whether their relationships are right for them," the Daily Telegraph quoted Foster as saying. "Almost half of young people will actually break up with their partner around Valentine's Day - it's almost what you could consider 'break-up season'," she said. The survey found that as many as one-in-three unmarried couples used February 14 to consider their relationship while one- in-four, 25 percent, admitted to staying in a relationship over Valentine's Day even though the relationship had lost its spark. "Trust, respect and honesty are all of incredible importance," Foster said. "So, if your partner has cheated, or you're feeling it's run its course, or you just don't bring out the best in each other, perhaps it's time to move on," she added. (ANI)
